The Empathetic Attorney

The Empathetic Attorney was born out of a personal need to share the multitude of lessons learned the hard way as AnnaMarie herself navigated the legal system in search of justice; for not only herself, but countless other victims by the hand of the same trustee of the college which they all found themselves students.

Description

In February 2019, AnnaMarie was sexually assaulted by longstanding trustee, David Jubb. Considering herself a “pre-law student,” she knew just enough about the legal system to know she needed professional advocacy. Through three degrees of separation, she unknowingly found herself the kismet client of attorney Sean Riddell and partner, Erin Greenawald. Over the next five years, AnnaMarie witnessed their trauma informed care of her case in contrast to the experience anticipated; and anticipated with right reason. In her past experience, victims of sexual trauma had never been offered such dignity in their plight or ownership of their healing journey.

Without realizing, the empathetic advocacy of her attorneys was being relayed to the countless individuals crossing AnnaMarie’s path. Her name in association with the lawsuits had become public knowledge, and ever since, victim’s from every kind of traumatic experience reached out to offer validation – or perhaps to find it themselves. After listening to well over a hundred victim’s share their experiences, there was one phrase that she kept hearing time and time again.

“You should write a book!”

The fifth anniversary of the incident passed on February 15th, 2024 – but this year it was no longer just another year past; this was the first year the date was actually celebrated. This was the first year the date was looked upon as a celebration of healing – not because of what it meant for herself, but because it was finally the year she was going to share her message of healing to the outside world.
